Artificial Sweeteners Plus Carbs Can Lead to Health Risks
New research from Yale University has found that consuming a combination of an artificial sweetener with a carbohydrate, for example, a diet soda, diet yogurt or low-calorie ice creams, can increase the risk of weight gain and type 2 diabetes. Consumer Reports (an independent, nonprofit member organization), and the lead scientist of the study, suggest the wisest course may be to avoid artificial sweeteners until more research has been done.
