
Researchers at the University Of Pittsburgh Graduate School Of Public Health found that dietary soy can decrease white matter lesions—a key risk factor for dementia—with the help of beneficial gut bacteria. Scientists found that certain types of gut bacteria break down soy isoflavones into equol. Higher levels of equol were associated with reduced white matter lesions in the brain.
