Plant-based substances may offer protection against dementia. Using laboratory models, researchers have discovered that EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate)—a key ingredient in green tea, and ferulic acid—a compound in carrots, can help reverse Alzheimer’s disease by reducing neuroinflammation and oxidative stress in the brain.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has become a worldwide public health concern. AD is a fatal neurodegenerative illness that likely begins with brain changes 20 years or more prior to clinical symptoms. AD is characterized by progressive decline in memory and other cognitive functions, eventually leading to dementia and death.
