Some supplements sold in the U.S. for weight loss, muscle building, energy, and colon cleansing, have been found to lead to health issues—with about 40% categorized as severe problems, including death—for nearly 1,000 people aged 25 years and below, according to U.S. FDA records. Supplements claiming to help with weight loss, muscle building, or energy were almost 3 times more likely to cause harm, while those marketed for colon cleansing were about twice as likely to cause harm. Many of these products have been found to be tainted with prescription drugs, heavy metals, and pesticides. Choose supplements wisely.
